How to Solve 5 of the Most Common Wedding Decor Issues

In your search for the perfect wedding venue, you may find a locale that checks off all of your boxes in terms of space and accommodations, but if you’re going for a specific wedding theme, you may not be able to make everything adhere perfectly to your style choices. In these cases, some features of the venue may clash with your theme and decor options – but there are easy fixes to many of the most common issues you and your wedding planner will face. Here are a few of the easiest ways to tackle some of the most common wedding decor issues you may face.

  1. “The chairs don’t match my theme”

Replacing an entire venue’s selection of chairs is obviously not an option, but if you feel like they clash with your wedding theme, there are ways that you can dress them up. Consider adding sashes or chair covers that pair with your color scheme, or put a portion of your budget toward statement pieces like king or queen chairs for the sweetheart table to pull the look of your gathering together.

  1. “I want an intimate feel in a large space.”

A big space is necessary to accommodate all of your guests, but if you’re going for a more intimate vibe, make an effort to create spaces within the space. Use furniture and hanging drapery to cordon off specific areas for your guests to lounge or socialize, which can allow you to create points of interest and focal points throughout the room that can give it a more cozy feel.

  1. “I’m not a fan of the wallpaper.”

If there are certain wall features that don’t jive with your decorative scheme, and easy way to revamp this space is to hang up neutral wall coverings and set up projectors to project designs onto a backdrop. This will create a type of “moving wallpaper” that will add a dynamic lighting effect to the venue and will help you work around a feature that won’t fit with your decor choices.

  1. “The room’s color doesn’t match my scheme”

If there’s a design feature in your wedding that just doesn’t match with your theme, you can either choose to embrace it or cover it up with other features. For instance, if there is a blue rug in the space, try to give the room a uniform look by adding this same hue to your reception table napkins or seat covers. Or, if you’d like to work around it, add neutral features like textured rugs or cover certain features with fabric to feature other decorative accents more prominently.

  1. “I don’t like the flooring.”

Last but not least, if there is a ballroom carpet that stands out or the flooring option doesn’t quite match your theme, the easiest way to work around it is to draw your guests’ eyes upward. String some market lights from the ceiling to give the room an air of calming ambiance, or appoint the center of the room with a large floral installation to add another major focal to the room.
