Further Floral Findings: A Few Perks to Natural Flowers

Last week, we covered the benefits of going with faux flowers for your wedding, and to be honest: the benefits of faux flowers really are plentiful. They’ve continually gained popularity over the years for a reason. But all that being said, we thought we’d still give flowers o’ natural a bit of time in the limelight, too. This isn’t so much a list as some pointers to keep in mind if you’re not sure you want to go with faux flowers in not.

With Natural Flowers,

  1. It’s easier to stick to a singular color or type.

If silk flowers greatest strength is customization, then the edge natural flowers have is that it’s easier to just pick a breed and move on. Maybe this is because you have a particular love for white lilies, so you want to make sure they’ll be at every table, or maybe you just want to get the floral decorations over with and move onto other parts of the wedding you’re more passionate about (this is true for both ladies and men –gender does not automatically make a person a fan of floral decorations).

  1. No one feels cheated.

While we’re being honest, there is something about going with silk flowers that truly feels artificial (beyond the obvious, we mean). Weddings are momentous occasions and no place to let any doubts linger and not pursue what makes you happiest. If you’re afraid using faux flowers will make your wedding feel synthetic and cheap, then don’t push those thoughts aside and take one for the team.

A final note: It’s not all-or-nothing

Considering those two points above, what if you aren’t big on silk flowers, but someone in your bridal party is itching to try out some hand-crafted DIY designs? Well, it’s important to keep in mind that there’s no stone tablet labeled “Central Jersey Wedding Commandments” that says “Thou shall not mix natural and faux florals!” If you’re worried about allergies, or don’t mind letting your MOH putting her arts and crafts classes to use, you can always mix and match. For example, let the bridal party have silk bouquets but hand pick a natural bridal bouquet for yourself.

It’s not for us to decide what’s the better of the two. That’s a judgment call that’d be telling you what’s right and wrong for your wedding. If you’re not sure on which to choose, continue to research and talk it over with a recommend florist. You won’t truly know which is better for you unless you gets hands-on with it. You may find that you can’t walk away from the sweet and alluring aromas of naturals or have you mind closed off to silk ones until you see the design options for yourself. An open mind, leaves plenty of room for adaptability.
